Sevadar: Becoming an Inspiring Activist
Event Details
For the past 25 years, Sikh events throughout the world have effectively created an awareness of the Sikh faith. However, mere awareness is no longer enough for our youth and community. The next steps must be taken. As a Sikh activist or organization, have you ever asked: How can I leave a positive, inspiring, and lasting impression? What is the most critical information we must convey in our interactions? How can I improve myself to become a better activist? What underlying Sikh vision are we working toward? Am I and my organization making a difference? The Sikh Research Institute has taken the initiative to develop “Sevādār: Becoming an Inspiring Activist”. Sevādār focuses on the characteristics of Sikh activists in leadership roles. In addition to exploring all of the questions above, attendees will learn how to impart the Sikh vision within a given setting. Our hope is to challenge the attendees to think like a Sikh, not just act or talk like a Sikh! Sevādār is designed for the members and staff of the Sikh organizations and institutions in addition to organizers of Sikhī events. It encourages individuals in Sikh organizations to develop themselves for leadership roles. The intent is that content and delivery of Sikh activities will undergo substantial and visible advancements as a result of Sevādār. Sevādār seeks to facilitate the re-establishment of the Sikh spirit through Sikh ethos and culture while enhancing personal and organizational development. All attendees will share personal experiences and perspective to build upon the collective wisdom. Through each session, workshop presenters provide an opportunity to ask questions and seek an answer through discussion and interpretation. This Sevādār event will feature the following sessions: v Session I Gurmat: bāņī, tavārīkh, rahit – Framework to understand Sikhī v Session II Sevā: Attitude & Accountability – Case Studies of Gurū-inspired Activists v Session III The Ten Nānaks: ‘Jot’ & ‘Jugat’ – Oneness in Idea & Process v Session IV Questions & Answers – Open forum to seek opinions from a Gurmat perspectives For more information, please contact: For more information, please contact: 866-626-4391 | Navdeep@mann-intl.com 404-729-0743 | ishwardeep.singh@gmail.com Shraddha Nembang
